Photo: Otava picture archive ANITRA KARSTEN psychologist 1902-88 Anitra Karsten completed her doctoral studies in Germany. She studied psychology and worked as a researcher at the Berlin Institute of Psychology under Kurt Lewin. In 1928 she defended her doctoral dissertation entitled Psychiche Sättigung in the field of Gestalt psychology. In the 1930's Karsten studied advertising and marketing psychology and after the Second World War taught at the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration in Helsinki. During these years her research interests focussed on school children and ageing. Karsten returned to Germany in 1960, and in 1975 she was awarded the title of Professor by the University of Frankfurt. Anitra Karsten in Germany directing a documentary on child psychology.
