Note:

Sereno et al., 2001 define Metasuchia as: "Notosuchus terrestris, Crocodylus niloticus and all descendants of their common ancestor."

One is amused to notice that this definition and the tree that goes with it closely correspondens with the tree presented by Clark, 1994, the main difference being the splitting of Clark's Dyrosauridae-Thalattosuchia -clade, which was poorly supported (Clark, 1994), and makes a lot of more sense, when one consideries both temporal and paleogeographic distribution of these animals.
