TeachingInternational networking seminar on Everyday Life Research in the University of Helsinki, Finland on April 3-4, 2008 Paths to researching everyday life in the (near) future – Crossing the boundaries of disciplines We would like to invite you to join the seminar dealing with researching everyday life related to households. Seminar will be held in the University of Helsinki, Department of Home Economics and Craft Science, Finland in April 3-4, 2008. The main idea of the seminar is gather together a group of people interested everyday life research and to promote networking around the topic. Perhaps this way we could find potential research collaborators that would like to start planning for a joint research, an international and interdisciplinary project on everyday life in the making that could apply EU-funding. We would like different perspectives on everyday life to be presented. The seminar is organized by research network for Everyday Life Processes in Nordic Welfare Societies” (ELPiNoWS), that is founded two years ago together with professor Kajsa Ellegård from the University of Linköping, Sweden, Technology and Social Change, professors (social psychology) Lars Dencik and Allan Westerling for the University of Roskilde, Denmark, and doctoral assistant Pirjo Korvela from University of Helsinki, Finland, Department of Home Economics and Craft Science. Now we are expanding the network. The seminar comprises 5 presentations of about 25 minutes (+ 10 minutes discussion) each in which a speaker will present his or her perspective on researching everyday life. The presentations deal with questions like: what is the perspective to everyday life, what has been the object of the research, how everyday life has been approached and conceptualized, what methods have been used, and what are the research interests for the further – and could these interests be pursued with other researchers? The seminar will also have a number of shorter presentations (5-10 min) in which participants can present their research interests for the further that would be interesting to pursue together with other researchers. Furthermore, workshops for further elaborations on interests will be organized and there will be plenty of time for discussions with other participants. We will now call for shorter presenters (5-10 minutes) with a half page abstract to present own research interests to networking seminar. Invited speakers in the seminar:
