Applications are now open for a position as Postdoctoral Researcher - apply by December 15!

The Department of Physics at the University of Helsinki is inviting applications for a postdoctoral position in computational and theoretical astrophysics. The positions are offered within the ERC-Consolidator Grant Project KETJU. The successful candidates will join the Theoretical Extragalactic Research Group and are expected to work on the themes relevant to KETJU, including: cosmological simulations of early-type galaxy formation, modelling the accurate dynamics of supermassive black holes, the implementation of small-scale gas physics and black hole feedback, the calculation of the gravitational wave signal from binary supermassive black holes and/or the modelling of the formation and evolution of stellar clusters. Applicants should have a PhD in astrophysics or a closely related field, and ideally also experience with numerical simulations and/or gravitational wave astrophysics. In addition, good programming and data analysis skills and a demonstrated ability for independent work are considered highly advantageous
