Note:
While describing new species, Lebias stiassnyae Getahun & Lazara, 2001, they mention that this east African species is closely related to Lebias splendens, L. asquamatus and L. dispar.
However, the Fishbase places these species, along with many other Lebias -species, to a genus Aphanius. To follow the suite, I have here placed new species Lebias stiassnyae Getahun & Lazara, 2001 to genus Aphanius and it's name is Aphanius stiassnyae (Getahun & Lazara, 2001).
It must be noted that Lazara disagrees with the Fishbase and considers Aphanius as a junior synonym of Lebias. I personally would like to see a phylogenetic analysis that demonstrates the separation of Lebias from Aphanius.
