Instructions

The purpose of a class diary is to make us more aware of the process of learning. It aims at making the participants to reflect on their knowledge, goals and progress. It helps to formulate ideas and questions, and share them with others. It also reviews teaching and class discussions and maps out topics that need more attention.

At the end of every class 10-15 minutes will be reserved for writing the class diaries. I'll collect the diaries, view them and make a summary of the "findings" and questions. Next week I'll give the diaries back and publish the summary of them on the class homepage (unless something is indicated as "confidential"). In any case, no names will be used in connection with materials to be published.

Grading will be based solely on essays and literature, not on diaries.

When writing the diaries you may find the following questions helpful:

1. Today I learned/realized that...

2. I wonder if ...

3. I did not understand why/how ....

4. Could we next week...

5. In my view....
