For three years, since early 2000, the equation in the box on the
top of my blackboard has been there, surviving even the removal of
the entire blackboard from Siltavuorenpenger to Kumpula. The goal
was to determine the one constant I am pointing to. Numerous hours
have been spent at the blackboard pondering methods and techniques,
mainly with York Schröder - the other collaborators Mikko Laine
and Kari Rummukainen were at CERN, Geneva and Nordita, Copenhagen.
Now the number is known and
published,
it simply is 43/32-491 pi^2/6144
=0.555017.... Simply indeed, the result is the sum of of the order
of a million ten-dimensional integrals.
Thus it is finally time to clean part of the blackboard to release space
for new discussions:
