Projects in progress
- 2006–2009, partner and the head of the Finnish Team in four year research project "Fabricating Quality in European Education", headed by Jenny Ozga, University of Edinburgh and with Risto Rinne (University of Turku), Peter Dahler-Larsen (University of Southern Denmark) and Christina Segerholm (Universitet of Umeå). Project win the 2005 Award ECRP (European Collaborative Research Projects in the Social Sciences) granted by the European Sciece Foundation and funded by the Academy of Finland and other EUROSCORES funding agencies.
- 2007–2010 partner and the co-head of the four year research project, funded by the Academy of Finland, Power, supranational regimes and new university management in Finland, headed by Risto Rinne, University of Turku.
- 2008–2011 partner and the head of the four year research project
Parents and School Choice – Family Strategies, Segregation and Local School Policies in Finnish Comprehensive Schooling with Risto Rinne, University of Turku.

- 1998–2000, partner in the three-year research project "Decentralization and Professionalism: The Construction of the New Teacher in the Nordic Countries", headed by Kirsti Klette (Lillehammer University College). A project involving four Nordic countries, financed (2 million NOK) by the Joint Committee of the Nordic Social Science Research Councils (Nordiska samarbetsnämnden för samhällsforskning, NOS-S). Other partners are Ingrid Carlgren, (Linköpings Universitet, Sverige) and Jens Rasmussen (Danmarks Lærerhøjskole, Denmark). Various reports . including international journal articles (refereed).
