PROBLEM:

There are some students in the classroom who do not learn that well. The school principal has noticed that both the school climate and the number of the studens with learning difficulties have recentely dramatically changed. This is especially Mrs. Palmer's opinion.

There is a need to call expert from outside from school to indentify problems and present possible solutions to improve students learning. You and your collegues are chosen to be as those experts. As an expert you need to provide solid, theory-based suggestions how to solve some problems at the target school.

ESSAY:

Based on your choice, you are asked to provide an analysis of the situation and a set of responses to that situation. You should attempt to justify your response through the use of appropriate research, providing references where required. You may consider a range of options but you must make final choice of response. Especially, you need to recover arguments for and against inclusive education in your response. Remember, you are external experts. Your group essay (1,500 words including problem description; max 250 words) is due on 22nd November.

Content of your group essay (an example):

a) Problem description

b) What are main problems and is there a suitable theory which you could apply for

c) Other (minor) problems which may have an influence to this particular case

d) What are the general guidelines according to chosen theory

e) How to applicate a chosen theory to this problem? How does it help to solve this problem?

Finally there is a need to discuss:

f) How it is possible to avoid such situtation later on and g) what are the changes which should take place on the school, class and teacher (other staff) level.

PRESENTATION FORMAT:

As a group you can present your paper as a normal lecturing format by using overhead transparencies, or to make a poster, or to make a group play, or powerpoint presentation etc. Remember, your presentation should not be longer than 20 minutes (+ 5 min discussion). Presentation day is 22nd November.
