PRACTICALITIES

Registration

All conference participants (those presenting a paper as well as those who are just attending) are asked to register by 31st May 2006 by (i) sending an email (including name, affiliation and contact information) to collint-v@helsinki.fi AND (ii) paying the conference fee of 150 euros (€ 75 for PhD students) by 31st May 2006. The late (i.e. after 31st May) registration fee is € 200 (and € 100 for PhD students).

Please pay the fee when you register for the conference and do remember to indicate the code "CIV" and the delegate's name on the money transfer.

Conference Venue

The conference takes place at the third floor of the old side of the University of Helsinki Main Building (Unioninkatu 34 (facing the Senate's Square); see #1 on the map http://www.helsinki.fi/kartat/).

Travel

All major airlines fly to Helsinki from all over Europe. From the US the only direct flights are with Finnair/American Airlines from JFK.

Weather

The average maximum daily temperature in Helsinki at the end of August and beginning of September is around 18°C (average minimum being 10°C), but the weather is quite variable: it may be below 5°C and rather rainy or, at the other extreme, well over 20°C and perfectly summery.
