Thermophysical Modeling

Overview

I am interested in the mechanisms and processes that generate, develop, and mobilize asteroid regolith. This ongoing project mainly utilizes large-scale thermal-infrared telescopic data and thermophysical modelling (TPM) techniques, in order to estimate the thermal inertia of asteroids. A regolith conductivity model is used to estimate a characteristic grain size from these thermal inertias. This dataset of asteroid thermophysical properties is then used to investigate the distribution of asteroid regolith across bodies with differing physical, dynamical, and compositional properties.
